I don't know if you've played any of the older ones so maybe it's just that it's a disappointment in comparison with them.
Monkey Island is my favourite game franchise (that probably makes me really wimpy by gamer standards but meh), so it's not that I didn't like EfMI, but it was (in my own humble opinion) by far the worst out of the five MI games.
